Re going piano black, yes if you're on wood, no if yuo're on anything else. I have the Ally and wouldn't change it for anything.

@p3u: did you remove the Quattro badge and replace it for the passenger side dash trim?

I just assumed he was currently with wood trim. I'm with silver, love it, can't beat a bit of bare metal!

Why, are you considering buying OEM items to retrofit? BTW which trim do you currently have?

Well, if the right ones came up, I might buy oem - had a chance to buy a set 2 years ago but missed out.

By really just to see them. I know some people don't actually like the oem carbon fibre look so want to make my own mind up.

I would describe mine as tortoise shell but I think it must be the wood effect but like no wood I've ever seen!! Kinda greeny colour.

I actually don't mind it but I've had if ro 2 1/2 years and getting some cosmetic work down on the car and thinking about a few changes.

The problem is that you can't really tell from the photo. It's a bit like holograms.

Because the top millimeter or so of the carbon fiber composite is transparent resin, you get that 3D effect when you move your head while looking at it. I don't think the imitations can do anythign like this.

I must admit that the photos do look good though.

3M stuff is textured, and not shiny

OEM stuff is proper carbon, with no texture, but lacquered to give that shine

also, there are two colours of OEM carbon trim - one with a silver thread and the other with a blue thread.

mine has the ali trim - would prefer carbon myself but not bothered enough to change it.
