Where are you getting the converter rebuilt and what spec of lock up clutch ? I spoke to a few in UK and no-one said they know of any competent company that can rebuild a converter - I shipped mine to USA and had it rebuilt there.

Interesting stuff. I wonder if a gearbox rebuild is within the realm of a talented DIYer. I quite fancy the uprated valve block. Not sure whether it's worth messing with the TC though unless your going to drag race. What are your impressions of the uprated TC paul?

The uprated TC acts more like a manual so it holds gears and does not float along like most automatics do. It is hard to tell if it puts more power down than a normal one (claimed 10%) but it sure feels to put the power down OK. Originally I said it seems to spin up and then catapult off but this is not as obvious now as it has bedded in (and I have hyperboost diverter valves fitted which seem to reduce turbo lag). It whines more than stock too, probably due to tighter tolerances.

After the TC I got an MTM ECU chip - the combo just kept the gearbox hunting between 3-4-5th anytime I pushed the gas hardish. I then got the MTM TCU chip and it made a whole difference as it tends to lock the TC (so keeps it in gear) and then lets the full 500LB torque grunt you along unless you change down so I would say the MTM TCU does not tend to shift down as much when accelerating but is smoother overall and suits the MTM ECU (not surprisingly!)

Overall, I would not swap out the TC for the sake of it but if you need to change the TC then an upgrade is a good option.......possibly at less cost than OEM.....

So where in the UK would I source an up-rated TC and has anyone ever 'hardened' the C5 RS6 slushbox?
Is it worth contacting one of the engineering outfits that advertise on this forum?
No matter where you go, there you are.
