Wow - thought you would have had a go with one!.. You're the man.. Going back to my original post and your experience over a timed mile the RS6 will hold it's own then?!..Cornishmoocher wrote:I have had a bash with a GTR.
M6 toll booths, alongside each other all the way in the queue, nodded, and he waited for me ( it was early).
rolling start, from maybe 10mph.
i was with him upto 100mph, really with him......maybe even a bit in front by an inch or two of nose, then something really strange happened. He disapeared. And I dont mean just faded away, it was like he hit a hyperspace button, by the time i hit the section where it narrows into 3 lanes, i was doing 160 and I could not see him.
Don't even go there is my advice, you get a guy who can drive and he will kill you in every way possible and then make you look stoopid for even trying.
I spoke to S4int/RS paul about this. Apparently at 100 mph, the aerodynamics kick in and its like an extra 100hp going to the wheels.
VERY VERY VERY QUICK CARS>

No!
The GTR will do everything the RS does- only quicker. In a mile the Rs will not even max out, the GTR probably would come very close to it.
P.S. Don't know about being "the man" just right place at the right time and got my arse kicked.....

It's all Bollox.
Half of what you read is bull and the other half is all <beep>.

Same goes for anyone fancying a match against a Mitsi X FQ400. In a straight line?..... maybe if if you are mapped, but dont bother if you are on anything other than flat, straight tarmac!! Its like racing a scalelectrix car.......unbelievable cornering speed.

Yeah it does look like it been fettled with. The last South Mimms meet we had one of my friends brought along his GTR, LMDLMD took me out in his C5 saloon and as bloody fast as it was the GTR was indeed in a league of it's own when i went out in it. without a doubt it was the fastest I've ever been on a public road and will probly never get close again!

Don't suppose it was a black car Mooch? I was in a similar situation with mine. I thought I'd got the handbrake on or something? The GTR literally disappearedCornishmoocher wrote:I have had a bash with a GTR.

....except look sophisticated, understated and like you don't have to try too hard. Like the old Audi ad tag line from the early 90's, before Vorsprung etc - "The more you know, the less you show".Cornishmoocher wrote: The GTR will do everything the RS does- only quicker......
And do you really want to have to wear you baseball caps sideways in a year of so once the Evo and Scoob boys get their hands on them? For me it's not all about speed - if it was we'd buy a cheap Ultima or Radical and beat anything round anywhere.
But.... I know where we're all coming from on this. I had STi Scoobs before the world get the bug and it was fun whilst it lasted. Wouldn't go get me one now, no matter how much power it was supposed to have.
At the end of the day a GT-R is still just a £50k Datsun. Albeit a fast Datsun....
.......... pause ......... Pistonheads ..........
... blimey - GT-R's are now under £50k. Bugger!

think it was a load of greyhounds just out of the traps, and there was one just lying down couldnt be bothered
playing to the fact that the audi doesnt need to show off / show what its got

I am not really sure why a comparison is being made with a GTR and an RS6 !? I would have thought a more realsitic comparison would be something like a 911.
The RS6 and the GTR are completely different types of car, i.e. one is a coupe with two doors (and effectively two seats) and the other has four doors (or five) and has five seats.
I have an Avant and can carry a one ton rubbish bag to the tip at the weekend and can take five people to the South of France on holiday with all their luggage but the GTR cannot do that.
I have a Caterham that is quicker 0-60mph, 0-100mph, 30-70mph, etc than a GTR but the GTR will be quicker from anything much above 125mph simply because my Caterham tops out at 145 mph but I don't see the point of comparing my Caterham with the GTR as they are completely different types of car.
Not knocking a GTR as it is a wonderful car and is certainly something that I would consider.

It just stems from a bit of office banter at a mates office, his boss has a GTR and they were just discussing what would be faster over a timed mile, my RS6 or his GTR..Stuart6587 wrote:I am not really sure why a comparison is being made with a GTR and an RS6 !? I would have thought a GTR against a stage3 RS6 would be a fair match but to be honest...why bother. The GTR is awesome...not my cup of tea thanks, I have a playstation at home already and it doesn't cost £50k.
They are so different. Why put it up against an Atom SC or something to see how slow it (GTR) is. If I was single and had an asbo and less than 20, it would be the onyl car to own. As I have 2 kids, a wife, do 150miles per day and need somehting half way comfortable, I'll keep the '6 - even though it is slower.

RS6 (MRC'd with econodrive) is not just for Xmas

Yep the GT-R in the vid posted is more than slightly fettled... its pushing out 700bhp+.. prob closer to 8!
Have a wee look at some the other related vids, its written at the start.
I know how quick a litre bike is since i ride one myself, you would need atleast approx 4-500bhp/ton to be able to compete... so i was pretty sure it wasn't a standard GT-R from the start.
That Switzer P800 title at the top is probably the tuning co. and stage its been tuned to, if it can out run a Hayabusa at every level in a drag race.. it must have a quartermile time in the low 10's or even less... that's alot faster than even a Veyron!

That old chestnut. Every iteration of the GTR I have driven has huge amounts of character, simply fantastic to drive. The RS6 by comparison lacks character or interactivity in my view (other than the noise).Cornishmoocher wrote:Very quick, but full of Japanese effeciency which lacks any soul or charachter.
David, Yer, M6 toll, they are bastards, crawling with em!
Woodlum, Its a scary ride........ Tkae rubber pants and a nappy.......
