My warranty company - Motorcare Warranties picked up the tab for the tyre sensors, audi docklands replaced the senor and a battery in another tyre sensor (i thought this was strange given i was told on here it was a sealed unit, so seem batteries can get replaced. Saves be a small fortune £100 or so on the senor and then another £100+ for labour....

Hmmm.. I don't yet know. I'm in a bit of a wrangle with the dealer over a warranty that's expired before it was supposed to. Essentially I bought a 12 month warranty mid-April last year and the dealer 'confirmed' that it would expire on the same date this year. Turns out he was wrong and the warranty company backdated it to when the previous warranty expired (which is apparently correct, it's the dealer that told/sold me incorrectly), so by the time I took it in for various reasons including DRC, the warranty company say it's expired.

There's a bit more to the tale, but since it's still an ongoing situation I figure I shouldn't go on about it too much in a public forum.

My dealer told me that they are sealed units and the battery cannot be replaced. Ludicrous money to get them fixed from Audi ..... i cant remember exact figures but about £140 for each sensor + Audi labour ..... you do the maths.

Agreed from here many have told me they were sealed units. Re cost, i was charges 92.89+vat + labour for the sensor(a4d0907275C) and a metal valve nothing on the bill re cost of battery... so i assume service engineer was talking b*llocks

OK, I've finally got my answer to this. Had my car in last week and they replaced my two faulty tyre pressure sensors on the warranty. Also replaced a faulty reversing sensor too.

Oh and they also replaced some valves... something to do with summat called DRC... anyone heard of it? :?

My tyre valves were replaced under the corrosion warranty, but the sensors should last about 10 years!?

I think, i shall need to replace one or 2, i know these are handy to warn of slow punctures etc, but i need to replace 2 tyres like today, and my audi dealer is 60 miles from me, will it confuse the computer if i removed 2? and replaced with normal valves, or does it just read the sensors that are left?

the batterys are fine in them but its due to corrosion they need replacing,

You would have to turn the system off. If the sensors can't be found it will assume they are broken and tell you all about it. ;-)

Yes, via the menu (by the handbrake). However, if you start the car and try to drive away immediately you will get an "off" warning on the dash. Just give it a few seconds before selecting a gear and it stays quiet.

I imagine you can tell the instrument cluster that you don't have it fitted if you want using something like VAG-COM but never tried this myself.
