wouldn't have another one
I could be wrong Grizz, but i read this post as if Len was disappointed at the end result with the RS6 he wasn't saying it was <beep>. Like me I think he really wanted to like it and it didnt happen, Audi make some great products and having owned a few of their master pieces the RS6 was a let down. Not saying it was <beep>, it just doesnt live up to previous models..again imo.
i didn't say it was a <beep> car. keep your hair on
i am giving a brief account and opinion of ownership. i suppose if the RS6 was the only car in the family then it ticks boxes and the drawbacks could be overlooked. in my case, the wife has the family wagon (for our 1 year old daughter), and the Griffith comes out at playtime.
we all have different requirements i guess. if you are enjoying your 6, i wish you all the best.

Sorry boys I'm with lenrs6 with this one the RS for me was a major let down. DRC problems from day one engine problems and a dealer network who know sod all about the car. For me I will never buy a RS car from audi again (might get somthing like a standard A4 to run around in) for me I was lucky and after 4 months the finance company made them take it back but it really took the shine off what sould have been a dream car. On paper it ticked all the right boxes but in the real world it was a let down the drc has to be the kick in the balls for everyone who has an RS6 and audi just don't want to know and have let the onwers find out how to fix the problem on their own.

Totally agree with Lenrs6.
My 6 spent more time at the dealers than on the drive.
Plus the fact that most dealers know NOTHING about the RS6 just rubbed salt into the wounds.
I had to do a 120 mile round trip everytime I wanted to get the 6 sorted.
Anything and everything went wrong with the 6 - lame gearbox, which I had mine replaced, dire suspension, which the dealers couldnt sort, and sensors galore (EGT, lambda) which the dealer had to take the engine each time out to fix.
As mentuiond in my previous posts - you can live with these cars if they have main dealer warranty, but once outside - I woudn't touch one. Bills would be HUGE !
Agreed that when they work, they are a joy to run, for those occasions when you want to transport a fridge at 180mph, but enough of those situations didn't arise for me to justify owning one.
...so got rid and use the chipped Dub as a daily.
In comparison - its a pocket rocket, still practical, quicker than the six in town and on twisties, and would even give it a good run for its money up to 100mph on the motorway.
Plus I spent 35 quid in the last two years on it.
Would I get another ? NO ! THe only thing I would get again is the B5 RS4. Great car and I still miss it...

Sad Reading really
I have owned mine for 18months 12500miles and only had one real problem...one shock replaced.
I think half the time the issues are caused by lack of expereince in the workshop!
I know alot of people on here have had DRC issues and clearly there is an issue but I think it is handled in the wrong way by the dealers, are the techs trained?, do they really know what they are doing?
The RS6 is a great car..BUT when you strip it down to the bones it is just an A6 with a BIG powerful engine in it, Big brakes, Big wheels, Over Engineered Suspension system and some great styling...so all the faults are present across the range(not DRC)
Lambda probe faults..95% of Lambda probes replaced aren't fault and that is a fact..mostly down to poor fueling or airleaks of some kind but when the tester shows up Lambda fault it is too easy just to fit a sensor and kick the car out.
Gearbox issues...from memory this box is faultless..once again incorrect diag can lead to the box being at blame for a fault...airmass sensors can give all sorts of issues...wrong oil level too.
The strange thing is I know of cars bought back off a customer for a big list of issues...sold on again and the car never having an issue again.
I see this trade from the other side of the desk too...!
