Also, FYI the RS6 has a power to weight of 242 per tonne versus M5 of 236 per tonne, but then bear in mind the significant drivetrain losses from the Quattro 4wd system versus the M5 rwd.

I'd also like to see you balance the RS on the throttle or try to get the rear end into play. Especially in the wet. On the flipside, try getting the M5 off the line in the rain. As I say, horses for courses. As I currently own both, and will for several weeks at least, I can't complain.

Very true, it was the lack of low down grunt that sickened me of the m5, where the RS provides the low end boost.

I think the thing with the M5 is that you have to work the box and rev hard too, whereas the rs you just plant your foot in any gear and it will kick down and just fly. I will miss that sensation for sure, but I'm loving the extra rpm's (amazing for such a big V8) and especially the engine noise

Well im thinking two things here !!

1) my Maf sensors may have been going AGAIN on the M5
2) im wondering if my RS6 has had a remap ! as it is ferociously fast, as fast id say as my 480bhp supra.

My favorite place for my M5 was slip roads, ho ho what fun.

Definitely possible, it's fairly easy to get them up over the 500bhp mark without much bother! I took photos this morning of both cars side by side, interiors etc and there is no doubting the Audi is the more pleasing to the eye both inside and out, especially in the red.

m5 for 4 years and RS6 for 1 year and selling.

RS6 is much easer to get the power down and has superb grip on all roads but overall loved the M5 and I thought the power delivery and balance of the car even though it is heavy (not heavier) made the M5 a better car.

The audi was just too easy and lacked feel. i must admit though there isnt much in it and obviously very similar cars in the whole scheme of things.

If i had to take sides id say edcase your on the money and bbigman2000 youd better check the exhaust/cats and mapping and your insurance coz you might have a 520bhp monster.

must admit that M5 to RS6 the noise got better and then to CSL its just a dream. On the A1M in the Hatfield tunnel I can just scare people for fun.

RS6 V8 growl was great but better appreciated as the wife drove off up the road in it rather than at the drivers wheel.

I would love a reminder of the e39 some day just for a minute or two

One thing in favour for the M5 though is the extra revs. Just as the Audi sounds good, it changes gear!

Seriously tempted to put tubi's on the 5, now that would scare people!!!

shimmy thanks mate, I took it to a guy that has driven a few of them, and just on chatting with him and he has known me and my cars for years he does think the RS6 is stock, but I shall make more enquiries.

I to went from an RS6 (albeit highly modified) to an M5 (albeit the E60 & she's been breathed on by DMS) & i can agree with Ed's comments.

The RS6 is a sublime car & at 550BHP which mine was at it's highest state of tune, very little could even come close, however my DMS M5 with the exact same BHP but far lower torque is head to head performance wise with my old RS6 (tried & tested on a runway many times).

The higher torque in the RS6 does get wasted to a degree by the Quattro which is not something the M5 has to worry about, but on the flip side, the RS6 felt slightly faster in the seat as you got the Bi-Turbo kick that you don't get in the N/A M5.

Back the other way, the RS6 only has a 5-speed box & the E60 M5 has a 7-speed SMGIII system (true clutchless sequential manual).

I'd never knock my RS6 or any RS6 as they are awesome cars, however my favour with the new M5 is that it's a more involving drive, due in the main to the chassis, drivetrain & suspension & not forgetting that RWD/548BHP is just so much more fun. The only other advantage & it's down to taste is that to me the new M5 looks more modern than the current RS6, as the A6 shape the RS6 shares has been around since R-Plate cars, plus the M5 has many gadgets & i just love toys.

They are quite different cars, but straight line speeds are not that far apart & the rest really comes down to tastes & driving style.
