Peterb -
Is that the heated wheel, or is it a theft-prevention measure?
Neither although a good idea as a theft prevention measure... It has a 4 way switch 4 reach / up down; when you remove the key it moves back to furthest point to make it easier to get out..

AND FINALY:

The fault has been found - new dashboard display unit needed; had to provide photo ID and Log book to dealer as apparantly Audi will not accept order wihtout (security reasons) Dread to think how much that would cost......

I wonder if your mileage reading will be affected?? I saw an XJ that wasn't too old but the seller was very very honest that it had done 5,000 more than the reading because of a similar display change.

That was the 1st thing I asked and was told that they would set it to the current mileage - makes sense really - I can see no reasaon why they would not or could not.... (well they better do !!)

Yep, there's a once-only option of setting the mileage count from VAG-COM etc.

Just when I thought it was all over.....
They replaced the clocks, updated the mileage, completed a fewother bits they found whilst they had it..
Get in car, start it up
Cough splutter... miss.... stall...
Turn over again... fuel warning comes on, 30 miles left to drive and just touched the red...

Off back into the show room, 'They all sound like that when they 1st start up m8' needless to say I was not amused...
'I cant understand it m8, I parked it there myself it was fine'
Grab techie, sit in show room
15 mins of head sctatching later, visit from CS Mgr & Dealer Mgr 'we are really embarresed......etc, etc'

So now they are having thier 4th attempt.....
God only knows how much a set of clocks cost ?????

Still I'm on my 4th loan car; could wite a column about all the different specs / models

AN for the 4th time I have it back; 9 days later and the problem was apparantly a loose connection on one fo the fuel pumps at the tank - so fuel was in it but not being delivered to the engine...
Time will tell....

A common problem with the RS6 is the voltage drop when the demand is high. It can cause the tracker to activate as the drop is sufficient to make it believe that the battery has been disconnected. The fuel gauge on my RS6 is fairly linear and if I get to zero miles left I know that I have about 10 miles of fuel left. I am now on my second battery, the first battery caused teh fuel gauge and mileage left computer to come out with all sorts of garbage.
