Jon makes a valid point - and in doing so demonstrates his understanding of the value of keeping the customer happy.
Anyway, just had a long chat with my friend. He's chalked it up to experience and put it behind him. No hard feelings.
Btw, if anyone was wondering what happened to uber nice guy Ed Jackson, he's back in business. www.autops.co.uk. Not far from Bicester.

Audi Specialist Customer Service - Am I Being Unreasonable?
Re: Audi Specialist Customer Service - Am I Being Unreasonab
a. I think that the problem may be that he asked for a token gesture.KidCharlemagne wrote:

How would you have felt in his place?
A token gesture can only be offered as an item of goodwill - not because its been asked for.
b. How far did the car have to be delivered?
I would have expected an insurer to deliver the car back to him but not the garage, unless they offer this anyway.
Regarding chasing payment for the service - surely they shouldn't have even let the car leave without payment - he had 5 weeks!
As my mother always said "Those that ask don't get"
