Setting myself a target of MoT and tax before end of March because new road tax comes into force 1st April and I'd prefer to loose 1 months road tax at low rate rather than
a full 12 months at the new rate.

Tyres ordered last night, should arrive tomorrow, Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S from Blackcircles, there was a flash sale yesterday £ 500 plus delivery, so next job is to get it up on axle stands and get the old tyres demounted and the wheels refurbished.

Have you had the motor running, up to temperature, moving backwards & forwards under it's own power, yet?
Would also recommend a copy of VCDS. I suspect you'll have to chase a few electrical gremlins where the damp has got in - and it will be a significant help.
Also - service the gearbox with a new filter & oil, in addition to the engine of course.

yes, after priming oil pump it started easily and settled into a smooth idle. I've driven it very slowly forwards and backwards to load and unload from the trailer. Front left tyre won't hold pressure.

Quick question. On a saloon, when pressing the remote boot release on the keyfob, should it just unlatch, or should it rise up automatically. My old MB C-Class C43 AMG would pop open when triggered remotely. Mine doesn't, so I was wondering if that was normal, or a sign of gas struts that have passed their best? I'm assuming the latter...

I'm sure I'll have a multitude of other questions.

Needs new wipers so have just found a pair of s/h A6 Allroad arms for £ 25/pair including postage. Will refurbish them at work and fit with some new blades.

Will take the old battery to the recycling centre next time I'm passing and weigh that in too.

Carefully prised off the old plates bearing a private plate long since sold, so will give them back to Mother in Law as a memento. Had the new plates for years ready to fit, so they will go on tomorrow.

Spent half an hour polishing off something that had dripped down the passenger door and set hard. Got the worst off with cutting compound and then clay bar. All came off, which is pleasing.

Another Q: Did all UK cars have the BOSE sound system? I've got the RNS-D head unit.

Mine is also RNSD and Bose.
The boot opening on the remote control just unlocks the boot. It doesn’t lift it.

It was a link from a Facebook post found yesterday. I'll see if I can find it. Its possible, I or the person who posted it have misinterpreted it. Will double check.

Currently £330 according to .gov website. Google is a bit hit and miss but looks like it could be £600, robbing barstewards
