Maybe I'm just heavy handed in my use of them then .

That looks a similar set up to mine Matt, although I have a handle on the back which I wind in until it stops

Don't get me wrong I know they aren't the best quality. The hardest part always seems to be finding how much pipe needs to stick out to get a good flare, plus good prep and deburr helps a lot.

At the end if the day if it works that's all that matters .
I tend to leave about half to length of the fitting worth of pipe out the end and it seems to work out . Though I've cocked up many pipes though trial and error
