I don't have a list of part numbers, ETKA is quite easy to use but I'm not sure what the deal is when there are multiple part numbers - which one is the correct one?

Shopp - its a no brainer if its £650 excess vs £2k. Its bad enough spending a penny putting someone else's damage right let alone £2k worth. Either way its likely that my policy will be affected, as, after speaking to some of my learned insurance friends they believe just notifiying your company of a collision will go against you. 14 years of NCB with no claims ever, protected no claims. £500 insurance on a limited policy. Do you think my insurance would be £1500 more over the next 3/5 years?

£550 & vat for a bumper
£300+ for respraying parts
£300 upper grille
£200 lower grille
£75 parking sensor
Possible fog light surround
Possible headlight washer bracket (not sure if this is part of the bumper or not).
Number plate
Labour to remove etc....

One of my fogs got killed, so to avoid it looking silly I have paid for a new one on the other side. If there are any spare bits from the old fog you are welcome to have them.

As for the insurance loading it isn't going to double or anything from my experience.

Sure, was just saying to check. I've got different cars on different policies, so for me it would be increased premiums for all of them.

Yeah I will probably get clobbered pn the Waffs motor too but she is constantly bashing into people so I'll still be lower risk than her!

Thanks for the offer Ringo but don't worry. I'm sure that if the bodyshop find anything extra wrong with the car then they can add it to the bill after consulting the insurance co.

Just read through this and it really sucks you're having to claim from your self.

one question though. Where you parked, where there no CCTV? Or how about asking around for witnesses? I know it's a long shot but you'll be surprised.

No CCTV and I've asked everyone around work for witnesses. No luck. The only witness (think I've mentioned before) is from the chap who was parked next to me who left at 4:55, checked out my car (he loves cars & bikes) and the gritter hadn't been.

Lots of people have seen the gritter driving round the site - some even mentioned that he drives like a loony

Do you have that person's contact or can get hold of him?

Reason being is all you need is a witness for a hit and run to be processed.

Mini update.

Nobody seems to be telling me anything. I fired off a huge email with all my points the people who run the gritting place. They have read my email but are yet to respond.

I got a quote from my local body Shop, just shy of £1700 to replace the whole front end not including lights. I'll dig out the exact prices for parts for those who are interested.

I'm gonna wait till next week to decide what to do. In the meantime I need a little help chaps - part of my bumper looks like it is pushed back further than the other side, but I'm not sure what its supposed to look like. It's the section just in front of the upper grille - does the lip line up exactly with the bumper below or should there be a mini ridge? I'll take a photo to show you all. The bumper isn't loose though so are there crumple bars behind that might have deformed?

Thanks chunky. Is is part of the bumper or an extra? I guess there must be so much guess work for the bodyshop until they remove the bumper.

You can see left side sticks out more than other

Damage, I've temporarily cabled tied the lower grille back on minus the ally but. Headlight gap looks wrong too but I removed it and none of the mounts are broken.

Just in case this cheers you up a bit, I twatted my car last week. Well, I say I twatted my car, I was forced to <beep> it by a woman pulling straight out in front of me at a roundabout. Dual Carriageway with lights at the end where it is angled to go on to the roundabout, me in the right lane all clear ahead, a few cars in the left lane. Lights are red but go green as I am at 150-200 yards so I decelerate to my normal rolling speed to come on to the roundabout.

Woman pulls out from the traffic on the left directly in front of me. I had no where to go but swerve around here on the dirty chevron'd area so marbles basically, the car went in to a beautiful full sideways spin and tried to 180 on me but I controlled just enough to hit the kerb on the roundabout sideways-on and climbed up and on to the grass. You will be happy to know that I al least kept all my speed and was driving along the grass quite happily before coming off and finding somewhere to stop and inspect...

Bolloxed up both immaculate rims, torn the sidewalls on the tyres and I have even more clonking on the front right than I had before (had been starting to make odd noises/clonks since around October)

Any way that I look at it I am out by well over a grand and am pretty livid tbh :(
