So for all you techies out there - would you have read that and said, "ah, yes the valve block needs replacing"?
I can't believe they started messing around with the VB. Those DTC out scream torque converter / clutch packs.

check the date of the first post in this thread - 31st May. I still do not have my car back.

Everything seems to be taking an age, from getting the repair authorised before it was trailored 400 plus miles down the road; waiting on the transmission repairers to pick the car up; further inspections by the warranty company; waiting on parts; it goes on. I have been promised it back by the end of this week...

Totally agree......depending on what my ATF service throws up,I will be looking at a new box. With the engine out Cam belt, lambdas and anything else thats labour intesive will be getting changed out....no-one likes it when these things happen but when your talking about £4K for a rebuild and £5.5K for a brand new unit with 2 year warranty it's a bit of a no brainer.......ps I have no warranty and with the f*cking about Malcolm is going thru just now I have no intention of getting one.....it's a 8 year old car with a known gearbox weakness...the majority of us bought these cars circa £15K with the inevitable box and suspention change....£7K......... its still a lot of car for £22K
Sorry to here about you woe's Malcolm....but as previously stated....I'd be surprised if any warrenty company were going to be easy when they get the call "Yes it's the RS6,the gearbox is playing up"

i ain't complaining and I'm certainly never gonna directly complain about my warranty company - i'm getting a pretty big bill met by them for a £700 premium. Just wish I had my car back - wonder if i'll notice the difference when I step back in to the RS6 from four weeks of a 1.0l Micra?

Guessing it's cause it's being done through warranty. Mind you, the length of time it has took, a new converter could have got here from the states

A1 Premier Transmissions do not remove the engine, they drop the box out but they still charge around 28hrs for labour. I assume most of that is actually rebuilding the 'box itself, no small task. They only use genuine ZF parts and they will uprate/replace the front pump to a better bearing unit (something I was already looking into). That said, I have heard mixed reports of their output.

Well the 'end of the week' came and went and no car back. A1 PT are hopeless at returning calls. They uplifted my car on Wed 22nd June (having previously advised they'd pick it up w/b 13th June!). They said all the warranty authorisations were in place so they start work on it Thu 23rd June and that it would take 10 days. I figured it would then be ready Wed/Thu 6/7th July. They never returned my calls that week until I eventually got hold of them Mon 11th July and they said then the gearbox was still out the car but that I'd have it by the end of the week. No idea what's happening now.

Finally managed to get hold of someone at A1 PT this afternoon. My gearbox has been rebuilt and is awaiting refitting but they're waiting on a part from Audi. A T piece connected with the turbos that broke when they were taking the box out they said... They suggested it would be the end of the week before the car was ready. :-(
