RS6 vs new RS4
I'm seriously considering going from RS6 saloon to RS4 saloon when my 3 yr warantee is due to finish. Two things are making me a bit undecided- firstly I spend most of my daily commute in traffic and like the auto and secondly will I miss the shoulder/head against the side of the roof room that the 6 gives me?

[quote="Ernst"]Any of you RS6 owners swopping for a new RS4 avant when it arrives?
I wasn't but recently saw the saloon in Switzerland and it really did look good.
Question is:
Do I keep RS 6 plus and spend a bit of money upgrading (at AMD)
Trade in for new RS4 avant late this year
Hmmmm?
e[If you don't need the space,go for RS4 pace!,It's tighter,It's balance is superior to that of a Olympic bar athelete.I've driven one in France at a press lunch -Truly,Truly amazing.I've had them all and this beats all other audis into submission.Only one car in the worl is better -Buggatti Veryon.]

RE: Re: RS6 vs new RS4
I've just ditched the RS6 Avant ready to pick up my new RS4 (hopefully) 1st week of March. The RS6 is a superb car, but is better designed for autobahn's/long haul high speed cruising. The RS4 is a bit more chuckable in the bends on the twisty stuff. As said above, they are completely different cars.
The reason I've changed is because I wanted a 'manual' car again, and the RS6 was coming up to 3 years old, so it was time for a new car...... and I think the RS4 is probably the best new car that Audi produce at the moment.

RE: Re: RS6 vs new RS4
I've got the RS4 Avant on order, which I shall either cancel or delay significantly, as I have just got my 6+, and I love it. Still undecided about the RS4 as I haven't seen the Avant yet, but have to admit I'm concerned about the residuals and its lack of 'limitedness'. They seem to be all over the shop already.
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

I was intending to go the RS4 route, but got seduced by the size, looks and comfort of the S8. Ordered one yesterday, but June seems a very long way off. I tried the 4 for size, but felt like Babar the Elephant in it! As most of my driving mileage-wise is motorway/autobahn and my 1.5 daily commute done at less than 20mph, chuckable isn't top of my priority list.
I had a sit in one at my local dealership whilst I was in - the drivers seat looks really cool but I found it a bit tight (well very actually) - not one for the wide of hip shall we say ... I think I'll stick with my comfy Recaros!!! I'd agree that all in all it does feel very closeted inside compared to the RS6.
The gearbox felt very snickety when I was pushing it around the box!!

"Young Jeeves" now has to tick the 40-45 box since last week, so I must have been old before my time.MartynC wrote:Sat in an RS4 yesterday at my dealer and was suprised how small it felt.
I've come up S2, RS2, RS4 and now an RS6 plus and I think the extra size spoils you a bit. I wouldn't go back to a smaller car for my motoring now. Perhaps it's an age thing!?

Got the reverse problem. Too much space either side on slippy leather, so need to brace for corners (bit like a biker in that respect). Maybe we should swap seats. Perhaps if I hadn.t been so insistent on not having piping, a bit of lateral (sorry) thinking might have concluded that jumbo piping 1-2" thick might do the trick. I know....I'll try some foam pipe lagging...Rich_C wrote:I found it a bit tight (well very actually) - not one for the wide of hip shall we say ... I think I'll stick with my comfy Recaros!!! Rich.
Thanks Rich - problem solved.
