Remote control

Post by Steve2003rs6 » Fri Jan 02, 2026 1:57 pm

Has anyone swooped the internals of their remote central locking fobs into a new casing.
Had to replace the batteries in mine today.
The fob works fine but it’s looking its age.
Found this on eBay.

You can just buy a new case for a tenner if you're going to swap (not swoop) the internals!
Personally I'd buy a new key (like you've shown) and program it properly, but then I have VCDS to do that - but surely everyone with a D2 or C5 will have that as "the first tool in the toolbox"?

Yeah, that's my thinking too. ALthough it's a bit of a faff reprogramming the key.

You could just change the remote fob bit and keep the key bit with the transponder. Depends what condition yours is in I suppose.

Buy the shell and swap the internals. Easy, that's what I did. There are videos on YouTube. Ten minutes and done.

Cheers guys. Many thanks for the advice.
Will give it a go to swop the internals.
I already have VCDS and have coded the fobs before.
