Hi all.
Been a bit busy just lately with appointments.
So I haven’t scanned the car for some time.
Scanned this morning and EGT errors came up on both sensors.
Not too worried at the moment as I saw a new pair for sale. Couldn’t resist them so I bought them even though they were bloody expensive. Any recommendations appreciated as always.
TIA

Re: EGT sensors
Hmm. Hard to believe that both failed at the same time. Clear the codes and see if they come back. You don't want to be changing those if you can avoid it. The access is a nightmare.
Maybe they were unplugged from inside the engine bay at some point recently?

Re: EGT sensors
Hi Ben.
Yes mate I wondered about both failing at the same time.
Both say intermittent faults.
I have cleared them.
Check again in about a week or so.
I don’t think they have been unplugged.
I did have the exhaust coupling/sleeves replaced a few weeks back.

Re: EGT sensors
If they are originals they had a softer potting compound on them that was easy to remove so that you can often resolder & repair in-situ. IIRC it's usually just the connector solder joints that give up. That later EGTs had a much harder potting compound that might not be possible to remove - but perhaps also gives a bit more support so the solder joint doesn't fracture in the first place.

Re: EGT sensors
Thanks for the info Matt.
Yes mate they are the originals.
Going to leave it for a week and then rescan to see what comes back.

Re: EGT sensors
Just re scanned the car.
No EGT warnings. Either it was a blip or the garage had disturbed something when they installed the new exhaust pipe sleeves. I did have a minor exhaust gas leak at the joint. The new sleeves rectified the exhaust fumes leak.

Re: EGT sensors
Thats a win! I had issues with one EGT, but a quick solder job fixed the problem. I believe to replace EGTs you need to drop the engine.....Steve2003rs6 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 31, 2025 11:36 amJust re scanned the car.
