HVAC unit

Post by steve2003rs6 » Fri Jul 04, 2025 1:08 pm

Hi all.
Did a scan today. Looks like the HVAC unit interior cooling fan has packed up.
Has anyone managed to gain access to the internals or are they a sealed unit.
Really don’t want to replace it for another used unit. As this one is in great condition. I replaced the buttons some years ago. TIA

Isn't it the temp sensor / connection to temp sensor for the fan that has packed in not the fan itself? If it wasn't making any weird noises in the last weeks I'd think it could be that. Also with the pollution sensor also not working maybe it's locked out ventilation?

I'd check the fuses for it first in case it's died of old age or spite.

Hi Suz.
Every thing is working fine Suz. Air con ok fan blasting cool air out in this hot weather.

It’s the tiny fan inside the hvac unit for cooling the HVAC unit internal components. I did hear a slight squeaking noise some weeks ago. But it stopped.

If you pop the ash tray open can you see up inside the HVAC front panel?

No. But just watched a total technic video on how to remove it.
Just remembered I have a spare hvac somewhere. I just need to find it. Bought that one for the buttons.

Hi Suz. In my toolbox of all places.
Front panel can be removed. The spare hvac unit is in better condition than I remembered. Just need to replace some buttons. That’s quick and easy with feeler gauges.

Topman (Craig) is checking the compatibility for me.
If that’s ok. I will do straight swop.

However might just strip the front cover off just for a look.

If you zoom in on the vent in the last photo. Top middle of the unit. You can see the small fan.

Can't you just swap the fan out?

What makes you think this fan is internal to the climatronic unit? I'm not convinced it is.

/Looks like it probably is. I can't find a separate fan in the parts catalogue.

Hi Ben
I googled error code 00796 v42.
Led me to the fan in the hvac unit.
