Brutus wet himself again.

Post by bilko1 » Fri Apr 11, 2025 12:25 pm

After the result of fixing the gearbox fault / noises Brutus has decided to be an annoying little <beep> again :bash: Came out to find a damp spot on the floor on driverside front, my heart sank. I knew straight away what this was going to be. Anyway 5 hours of my life gone so far and its stripped. Surprisingly all seals and pipe still available from Audi / TPS :bigblink: Many thanks to Craig / Topman for the help with diagrams / pictures. I will not be doing this job again :audibash: I'm sorry I should of done a "How To" but really you shouldn't :jump: Elsawin says "step 1 remove engine"

Steve if you have any of your brass pipes left can i have one please. If not no biggy as I'll get a plastic one from Audi (to be fair it's lasted 22 years)

Paul. Sorry mate. All 24 have gone. I even let mine go to help someone out.
I have a new original plastic one, which I am keeping as a pattern should I decide to have some more machined.

A few hopefully helpful things that might help others. The quick releases clips on the top and bottom hoses are prone to rusting out, according to Audi you have to buy the complete hose assemblies. These hoses are available from Audi Tradition but are silly money. A helpful person at TPS did some searching and came up with a part number of 1J0121142 for the clip, unfortunately these are on back order but I ordered the Febi version and they are spot on.

Next not sure if helpful or not but the starter motor is accessible with the oil cooler housing off.

Last but not least the cooling fan control module location that people struggle to find. Its on the end of the lefthand chassis leg and the lock carrier needs to come off.

Hi Paul

As I mentioned in our FB messenger chat, this was a really good find. AutoDoc, ETKA and anything else I look at says 'This item isn't compatible with your Audi RS6' but it obviously is, as it's the same size, strength and absolutely fits! And with a range of manufacturers available with a price starting at 1.24€, I'm going to be adding a few to my next AutoDoc order. This was an awesome find :-)
