You could put them in the wheel wells and try to communicate with them using the Vagcom.

I'm at a loss where the hell I put them after taking photos.

Well, the family and a friend have been dragged in to "think like me" as to where I would have put them.
Up to now, no bueno.
Checked the garage, all cars, house, summer house and both sheds, nothing.
Even went through the bins.
Really bugging me, this.
If I find them, I'll check if they work and report back.

Ok. I found them.
I can't get any of them to register with VCDS, but also cant replicate a full rotation.
Saying that, just realised I could have stuck them to the tyre.
So RS620, they're yours if you want them.

So, just realised (with blu tacked pressure sensor on the tyre) that the sensors don't report wheel speed.
So still couldn't say if they work.
