Specialist garages

Post by cover99 » Thu Feb 06, 2025 11:14 pm

Guys most aware had a few issues recently with the car thankfully resolved with assistance from here and Vagcom !!

Anyway when wondering what my next steps would be If i could not resolve my problems I was considering where i would goto if a garage was required. Anyway in my mind this had always been Unit 20 or MRC. From what i have read neither of these two specialists are interested in work on the C5 platform. This could clearly be incorrect as what you read and the reality can be very different.

So who are the goto specialists for our cars for timing belts, water pumps etc to engine out repairs when necessary. I am located in central Scotland but no issues with travelling if there are some personal recommendations. Still hopeful that Unit 20 or MRC remain invested in the platform but unsure from what i have been reading. List of regarded / recommendations may help members knowing who they can rely on when required.

I used PSI Tuning in Staffordshire. Others have had mixed experiences with them. I've not had much bother. They do offer loan cars but they are usually something awful and manual. There's also another Audi specialist, TQC, not far away in Stoke. I've not used them but I think others have. So that's 2 within a small radius. Unit 20 are about an hour from Stoke anyway. I think this might be a good area to hunt in. Liverpool and Manchester airports aren't too far so flying back and leaving the car with one of them might not be too mad a plan.

Parts availability is an issue. PSI do older Porsche as well and were saying even those are becoming difficult for parts.

I had read on here that unit 20 have stopped servicing our cars mainly because of the availability of spare parts.
I spoke to Martin (Grizz) about this fairly recently.

Thankfully this is not correct.

Existing customers are still very welcome. I believe that they are hesitant to accept new C5 customers.
Probably best to talk to Martin directly if you are a new customer looking to use their services.

VAG Technik would probably do it too (in Brum).

I do it all myself so can’t vouch for any garages.

Has anyone tried these people in Bridgnorth? They have the right attitude potentially.

Be interested to hear your experience with them.if you do take your car there, they sound good from the write up on their website. Not that it can always mean much in real life...
