ground wire
ground wire
Hi, I have a problem with starting the engine – the symptom is as if the battery is weak, but the battery is new. I figured out that the issue is due to a lack of proper ground connection to the engine – when I directly connect the engine to the car body, I am able to start it. Does anyone know where the main engine-to-body ground connection point is?

Re: ground wire
Look around the starter motor area. Which is uk drivers side.
Look from under the car up at that side chassis leg and there is a large ground connection bolted up to the underside of that chassis leg. 13mm nut if i recall.
In amongst that is a few cables that head down to the alternator and the starter motor.
Under the starter motor just above the sump is a large ground connection to the block. Cap head bolt with 6mm Allen head if I'm not mistaken.
Have a look. If your still struggling I can probably get you pics off mine.

I had a quick look under mine can see one end at/around the alternator...other end disappears
Could you post up pictures? Thanks Steven

Re: ground wire
It goes from the rear of the starter bracket to the chassis leg above the alternator. I've just removed the alternator as it decided to pack up after doing the cambelt
If you need better pictures I'll get them when its light.
