Evening guys looking for a bit of advice. I have decided to purchase Vagcom. I have a couple of questions that hopefully those with experience can shed some light on. I was on a website Gendan and from what i could see the following was recommended. Ross-Tech VCDS HEX-V2 USB package for VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda cars (1996 on, 10 VIN limit). Does anyone use this version? On Ebay i saw some "VCDS VAG Genuine Ross Tech Hex + Can USB" but have no idea of the difference and don't want to buy the wrong cable.
Second question is how easy is the software to use? are there any guides for the C5 RS6?. I am not used to using diagnostic tools and am a little scared that with not that much knowledge could be doing more harm than good.
Thanks in advance. Steven

Hex + Can usb is what I have. It’s fine for an RS6 but I’m going to need a newer one for my Passat.
It’s not the most user friendly software but it’s not flakey like a load of other brands diagnostics.
There’s so much info out there that you can always find a way to do what you need. Start by looking at the Ross tech wiki for the RS6 4B. You’ll see what kind of procedures there are and what’s involved.
Be wary of non-genuine “genuine” cables on eBay.
The VIN limit thing pisses me off even if I wouldn’t use 10. Question of principle.

Re: Vagcom
It’s been said on here many many times. If you own a rs6 c5 then a Ross Tech VCDS cable is a must.
I am also not a diagnostic expert, but with the cable at hand and the knowledge and advice from fellow forum members, We usually get the job done.
My cable has paid for itself many times over.
