Cracked rear light while @S & RS-Werkstatt AG 4B9945095F 3FZ

Post by anditsoundslikebells » Sat Dec 16, 2023 11:14 am

While in Switzerland I found S & RS-Werkstatt AG.
Nico & Jo are very knowledgeable about these cars.
I had the driveshaft boot repaired before I drove the 9hrs/700km from Basel to Rotterdam yesterday.
Jo has one of our cars manual swapped and was very helpful.

One issue is that I parked the car up, fortunately took a photo, left it with them, picked it up a week ago.

Straight away my eye went to the cracked rear light cluster. It kills me when the car that I care for ends up damaged while in the care of others. I need to send them the photos but they're saying it couldn't be them...

Of course Audi stopped supplying these in 2021.
I'm thinking I'll need to source a pair so it doesn't look odd?

Has anyone else had a cracked rear light?

Thoughts in Zurich sub-zero temperatures causing this? Seems unlikely.

I guess they get brittle after 20 years but still gutted.
Maybe two new lights is the silver lining.

with more bills to come in January, my heart sank when I saw it.

I think I'm treating this forum like a support group at times...

That’s bloody annoying. I hate it when garages do that. It’s why I always take photos of everything before leaving the car with anyone. It’s paid off many times, sadly.

Usually it means it’s the last time I use that garage, but in your case, you’ll struggle to find anywhere else so as enraging as it is, I think it’s probably best to find an amical arrangement. It’s especially disappointing for a Swiss garage.

I think you should be able to find some rear lights without too much trouble or expense. EBay or similar.

Have you checked Audi tradition yet?

Let me know if you want anything sending from the uk.

A real bummer. Hate it when someone else damages your car. As always they never did it syndrome.
Thankfully you have photos so at least you have support for asking them to foot the bill.
As Shop says plenty of light clusters in the uk.

I should update this story.
Joe & Nico were great at S & RS-Werkstatt AG. I now have a spare light I will fit later.
There was no question from them that they would fix the problem.
Glad I found them while I was here. Labour is an eye-watering rate but they are very knowledgeable and thorough.
I would recommend
