VCDS.

Post by steve2003rs6 » Mon Nov 06, 2023 1:52 pm

Just about to do a scan and software update is available message came up.
So updated the software to 23.11.0 from 23.3.1 and all good.
Except when I open VCDS it shows that I am still on 23.3.1 and software update is still required.

Yet if you Open VCDS
select options
Then config
Then update
Then check for updates
I get “you are up to date”

Weird.

You could uninstall your VCDS and do a clean install of the latest version. That's what I would do.

I only infrequently update my version since it's only a very old, slow & clunky laptop that I rarely use. Unless they rewrote the UI, there's unlikely to be any new features that are useful to our 20 year old cars.

Yeah, same. I’ve been using a really old version which was fine for the rs6 but had to update it to use with the Passat. It was a bit white knuckle time since it flashes the chip in the cable. Seems to be fine though.

Similar here. Bought a used notebook for sole use of VCDS. However over the years I found myself using it more and more for all sorts of things including MS Office.
The 128 gig of memory was used up last week. So had to update ssd memory to 1TB. Whilst at it upgraded ram to 16 gb from 8 gb.
So I should be ok for a while.
And the notebook is noticeably quicker as a result.
