Questions about RS6 Milltek Exhaust
Never heard of Audi offering a Sports Exhaust option on the RS6 or RS6+peterb wrote:Surely the RS6+ exhaust is what was offered as a 'sports' exhaust option on the standard 6 (often described as 'sound enhancing').
If you look at the RS6+ exhaust exits, they're exactly the same size & shape, only difference is the colour.

Getting my full Milltek system fitted shortly and have a few questions ...
(1) Looking on the Milltek website the cats and downpipe come as a integral unit (as shown here ... Milltek RS6 Hi-Flow Cats). Sorry for not sounding technical but I'm assuming the flanges on the right hand side of the photo are the start of the downpipes and are what connects to the existing exhaust manifold. I'm assuming undoing the bolts on the factory cats and connecting the new cats are what takes the time and is the knuckle grazing aspect of the job?
The only reason I ask is the Milltek site just shows 4 products (see here ... Milltek RS6 Products) - a 200 cpsi cat & downpipe assembly, a 100 cpsi cat & downpipe assembly, a cat back exhaust & hyperboost diverter valves. So basically what I'm expecting to get in my full Milltek system is the downpipe/cat assembly (left & right sections) in 100 cpsi guise & cat back exhaust (left & right sections).
As far as I'm aware the cats don't come as a separate entity just part of the downpipe assembly - is this true?
Also, can someone confirm that this is exactly the same system as AMD, QST, et al fit as part of their stage 3 upgrades?
(2) Was thinking if it would be worth bringing the old cats & exhaust home with me either to be stored in my garage in case I ever want to put it back to standard or flogged on ebay.
What have other people done with their old exhaust systems?
Is there a market for used exhaust systems?
Does the factory system break down into smaller parts or is the cat back all one solid piece?
If so is it a case of getting it cut in half just to fit in the car which then means it will need re-welding should I want to use or sell it.
Once again, many thanks in advance.
Rich.

I've been looking into Milltek exhausts for my RS6 - not planning on buying right this minute but maybe in a few months. As per usual I have a few questions for you learned gentlemen.
**The MTM exhaust gives you no more than the Milltek and the Milltek
**is cheaper.
(1) I was thinking of doing upgrades in a staggered approach, with the cat back exhaust first, then the performance downpipes & hi-flow cats and then getting the ecu remapped. However, I've spoken to a couple of vendors who recommend doing the cats and exhaust at the same time as the exhaust has a habit of expanding and moving over time making connecting the cats up at a later date a little tricky. What's the best way of doing things - bit by bit or saving my pennies and doing the whole lot done in one go?
**I did the complete exhaust in one go. From my experience in the
**RS4, t he back end does not do alot but the front end does.
(2) Are the downpipes Milltek mention in this article (http://www.millteksport.com/news.read.cfm?articleid=5) a physical separate entity to the hi-flow cats or is it one combined unit?
**The exhaust is in two sections, left and right.
(3) What is then benefit for opting for the 200 CPSI cats rather than the 100 CPSI cats? The 100 CPSI I'm assuming will permit higher gas flows but will there be any problems in maintaining the back pressure on the turbo's?
**I have 200CPSI cats. QST did not recommend the 100CPSI ones.
(4) Is it an engine out job to fit the downpipes & cats or can they be fitted with the engine in situ?
**QST did the exhaust upgrade with the engine/gearbox in situ. The
**only problem that might occur with older cars is removing the manifold
**studs.
Thanks in advance.
