Room for an anorak?

Post by Jeeves » Thu Feb 09, 2006 3:36 pm

Got the Q7 brochure in today's post and thought I'd check how much bigger it is than my RS6 i.e whether one would fit in my garage. (My Touareg won't.)

No prizes for guessing it is bigger, but a couple of things did surprise me:

1) RS6 is longer than a Touareg

and the real surprise:

2) Saloon is longer than Avant (5mm - about the thickness of a good anorak)!

not that size matters (I like to hide my light under a bushell if I can't fit it in the garage)

Hi Adam, they've sent me 2 Q7 brochures. Does this mean I have to buy 2?

It is a Bl##dy big car. I thought of replacing the wife's Espace with one but it's really quite a size. Have you spotted the mistake in the brochure? (Talking of anoraks!) on page 25?

Cheers, MartynC

Been away on business so aint picked up my brochure from home yet. It looks a behemoth!! I reckon it will be around the same length as the old Shogun LWB 7 seater? Thats wot I had in my minds eye. Had one a few years back. Could live with that size again TBH.

Hadn't had chance to read the thing, just look at the pictures (whoever invented that word "carnography"?), but see what you mean now. They've clearly got it wrong in the same way as we might say we've got a lower MPG whan we mean consumption.

I got my 3rd brochure this morning, which came via a separate and earlier registration on the audi.de Q7 minisite. I remember not understanding what one of the fields meant so put in pigeon German "Ich versteh nicht weil ich bin Englander" (couldn't be bothered to find a dictionary). Anyway the brochure got to me courtesy of my post code and with that sarcastic German bit instead of my village name.

Was surprised by the limited colour options as Audi' Feb Progress brochure (came with Fleet News recently) shows a fantasic looking blue one which now appears not to be a UK colour.

Base pricing looks reasonable which makes me wonder where they're going to pitch the new allroad?

Was at J25 yesterday, but allday meeting in LE so didn't get chance to ring you. Maybe next time as I'll probably be taking my Clio to Prima @ Sandiacre for servicing.

The Q7 (or rather anyone who buys it) gets a bit of a slating in the Motoring Telegraph this weekend. I don't think we will be buying one given the size of it but I'll try one to see.

Give my a shout on the mobile if your up again and I'll stand you lunch or something.

Cheers for now. Martyn
