Water in OSR footwell.

Post by Frazz82 » Sat Apr 22, 2023 5:15 pm

I am trying to find out how water is getting into my OSR footwell. Are the any common places it could be getting in . The engine bay scuttle is dry so its not leaking in through the fusebox or bonnet pull I think its possible it could be getting in through the heater pipes under the drivers seat but I dont understand how.

Do you have a sunroof ? If so could be a roof drain that’s leaking somewhere and running into the footwell. Check your boot as wel just in case. If not it could be coming through the door Membrane behind the door card. Also check the door drains they could be blocked. Other than that it’s going to be a strip and soo the car to see where it’s coming from. I had an RS4 B5 recently with a similar thing but the scuttle was blocked and the rear washer pipe join had blown apart filling the passenger footwell.

^What he said. Also:

If it's in the rear only, rear light clusters can leak and let water in. When you brake, the washer surges forward and ends up in the rear foot wells. Have you checked the spare wheel well to see if there's water in there?

Also the aluminium boot trim strip can leak and let water into the tailgate. You'd probably notice it when you opened the boot. You got an Avant or a loon?

Mines an Avant, checked the boot an its bone dry. Someones said it could be the aircon drain in the center console.

Yeah, but that would normally wet the front carpets, too.

Have you lifted up the front sound insulation under the carpet to see if it's wet under there?

Had abit of time tonight checked the air con drain an thats clear. I think its coming from the osf door seal we had alot of rain yesterday so checked it an the footwell is wet again with a pool of water on the body where the cill trim attaches on the left hand side if the picture.

The cars never moved ot run since I dried it out so its definately rain water getting in.

Get someone on the outside to spray the area with a hose pipe to simulate rain while you are inside looking.
