WATER LEAK FROM LHR ROOF AREA !!!

Post by RS6C5AVANT81 » Fri Dec 23, 2022 2:01 pm

Hi All!
Advice please ? I've got quite a serious water leak coming in from the LHR/Centre rear roof area.
See piss attached.
Inner D-post and rear roof trims are saturated.
I've already had a glass company take the windscreen out and re-bond back in again - So I know its definitely not coming in from the windscreen!
Has anyone experienced this issue ? Is there a known common fault ?
Are there any drain areas that could be blocked ? If so where are they located pls ?
May be its coming in from the roof rails or rear aerial?
Any advice will be much appreciated ?
Many thanks
James

Jeez.. stating the obvious I guess, but I'd whip off some of that trim, sit inside, and get a competant mate to go over all the seems and fittings with a garden hose, one sure way of locating the problem, that's how we done it in the bodyshop..

That’s how I found the leak in my tailgate.

Comma used to do a product called Seek N Seal, it was in a tin with a plastic nozzle much the same as 3 in 1 oil tins, it was brilliant stuff, you could see it creep along the door, window and body rubbers by capillary action..amazing stuff.

Yeah. I used something similar. Called Captain Tully or something.

I’ve got Capt Tolleys too (it might have me that recommended it).

My rear GPS seal isn’t great so I’ve supplemented with some sealant. Did look at a replacement seal but the are NLA. I’ve also bought a sheet of rubber gasket material that you can make your own with. Or I could just get a nicer looking shark fin….
