There's also a weirdo going on about DS2500 for his Cosworth in it. ;)

I've also got a feeling that the Vantage V8 uses the same calipers as the RS6. I'm much less sure about that. I think there's a Pagid RS4-2 pad for the Aston that's quite cheap at ECP. I'm out of my comfort zone now, though. Might just be making it up from scraps of memory.

I'm not a fan of coloured calipers, but that looks like a top job. Did they do the RS logo unprompted?

As for the pads, there are some good Brembo pads and some completely crap ones made from floor sweepings. There was a discussion recently on alternatives to OE pads. I found the DS2500 to be pretty good but they're not technically road legal.

/Also, IIRC the RS4 b7 pads are identical. You could try to see if those are available at Audi / TPS.
Cheers Shop, they do look well done, logo was done by them also and i even bought some logos myself to add, no need now :biggrin3: The car had all the calipers done red when i bought it so i just stuck with it really as the rears already match, couldnt be arsed doing all of them black again, and the 20's show them off better also

Yeh i know Brembos for normal road cars standard discs and pads can be quite <beep> in general, but i hoped they would make a better effort for cars that came with big boy Brembos from factory etc, but i wont take the chance

Good info on the RS4 pads, i'll have a look into them, dont happen to know if its the same part number do you? Also, when looking up replacement pad springs and clips, they seem to be interchangeable with RS3 and others aswell, wonder if they cross reference, i dont have any of the online catalogues to check

Jesus, what a fuckin nightmare trying to find OE pads for a fat bastard A6, seems these are now off the table everywhere

Checked the RS4 reference Shop and although the numbers match, the letters don’t, nobody has confirmed if they are cross compatible and I’m not taking a risk at £400 for a set. Strangely, the RS3 numbers match also with different letters, so I have a sneaky suspicion they are fine and Audi have catalogued with updated letters for each new platform it fits also, but like I say, not taking a stab at that

Same keep cropping up time and again, Bosch, Brembo but there’s also TRW who are a good manufacturer, so I’ll either go for them or maybe consider the Ferodo route, unless anybody has any spare sets for sale in the meantime

There's some Brembo ones listed on Autodoc. Also fit Lambos so I'd think the right order of magnitude:

https://www.autodoc.co.uk/brembo/1661928

They might be the floor sweepings ones but at that price if you can't get anything else they'd do until supply and alternatives are better.

Autodoc had a few others listed so worth a trawl.

Cheers mate, but im gonna steer clear of the Brembo pads for the afore mentioned reasons

Have just found the Ferodo Premier in that list though, basically an OE replacement so might have a look into these

That was my initial plan but Shopp made a good point, they arent actually road legal and dont have the EU marking for them, so not sure insurance would like them. They also do a Premier pad which is OE replacement so im currently looking into them

Hope to start re-assembly this weekend, but I want to get a coating on the calipers first to help keep them clean and easy to clean in future

Ive had Ferodo Premier on for nearly 2 years but probably only covered 5k. Ive had no issue and have a spare set as they were going for about £52 at the time so I thought itd be rude not to. Ive just had a look and it seems the DS are about the same price now. I also noticed that they are listed as fitting versions of the RS3, RS4, RS5, R8 as well as Phaeton and Lambo.
C5 RS6 Avant Mugello Blue, Koni Yellows & Original Springs.
1997 Audi Cabriolet 1.8 for when its Sunny!

Have these been fitted yet mate. Not long now until I have to decide what colour to go for and would love to see the red fitted before I do. 😉

Good thread this, I've just bought but yet to receive a set of front Calipers for my RS4 as they are in transit.

I've purchased them with a view to overhauling them myself, powder coating, seals, pins, springs, decals etc which I'm quite looking forward too.

I've done loads of Calipers being a biker, brakes without doubt are always a hot and heavy topic on any bike forum, sports, race and track bikes in particular..

I am hoping to swap the nipples for Ti and not mild steel, 5x the price but should pose less potential issues down the line, I wasn't sure if you had considered Ti nipples. Also came across decals last night but forgot to bookmark the page..

Calipers look in great order Foxmeister.. did they specify a manufacturer for the seals at all, I like to stick to Brembo, however I've used many aftermarket manufacturers with no problems TRW are my usual second choice after Brembo..

Overhauled my Monoblocs on my racebike last year..bit easier to work on than the Audi kit..

I just came across these

That's a full set of TRW seals on upgraded R1 Calipers and new pair of Serie ORO 320 mil discs on a ZX10R I rebuilt during lockdown, got the youngster involved, she even mounted them on the bike and torqued everything up.. !

Apologies in advance for the minor hijack
