Hand brake cable securing clamp

Post by steve2003rs6 » Mon Jan 17, 2022 10:57 am

Does anyone know the part number for the clamps.
Underneath the car at the rear is a holding clamp to secure and position each of the hand brake cables.
Mine have both rusted through and was hanging loose.
Done a temporary fix with cable ties. But would like to replace them if at all possible.

Thank you Ben. Will check with Audi to see if they are still available.

Left the part numbers with local Audi dealer. Waiting for them to get back to me.
Fingers crossed they still have them.

They're not a great design - both of mine had fractured. So I got a big washer, welded that on them on too make em a bit more rigid and then powdercoated them both.

They look potentially NLA - but if you've got the bits still you can do as I did above and they'll come out just fine.

Thanks Matt. Yes parts are NLA.
Can get them both from the states.
Trying to justify $140 for two flimsy components that look like they won’t last very long.
Having said that the originals are 19 years old.

Thought about it Ben. But I don’t want to keep asking favours from my previous workmates.
And I know they wouldn’t allow me to use the machinery.
Because of insurance.

As the originals are prone to cracking & as rusting - it's hard to want to pay $140 plus the ride and taxes.
And billet would need a bit of thought to ensure it wasn't even more flimsy while still fitting the bolt mount properly. (Acknowledging that Ben was probably being flippant)
But ya could probably make some nice ones out of a bit of pressed NS4 sheet.

Anyway, I was happy with welding back together, reinforcing a bit and powder coating. They looked smart and will outlast both me & the car now.

You should get a milling machine. They can’t give the manual ones away. I’m sure your wife wouldn’t mind one in the living room.

Ha. Ha. She won’t let me park the car in the spare bedroom on a turn table.
So milling machine is a definite non starter in the living room.

Are there any securing clamps off other VAG cars that could be used instead?

Suz. I am not sure. But worth looking into.
I will have a hunt around when time permits.

Yes to others - all the C5 A6 V8s by the looks of it (The V8's have different rear wishbones)

Maybe......https://shops.audi.com/en_GB/web/tradit ... 4B0609766B ??
This is the 4/6 cyl quattro version I think?

ECS appear to have teh correct one in stock as Steve probably already knows:
