So the 6 has had a vibration between 110 and 140kph, a decent one, mainly through the steering wheel but not exclusively. I've had 1 car before that's had a stuffed drive shaft centre bearing and one with a stealth crack in a rim which got worse with speed. I was a bit nervous it would be some not as simple as unbalanced wheels. I'd gone as far as pricing up the jxb performance driveshaft bearing and a new set of wheels (Rotors ).
But I thought prudence dictates that I start with lowest hanging fruit.
Anyway I went and got a 4 wheel balance and OMG the car is smooth as glass now. I've not had the pedal box issue some have and resolved with cable ties etc, but from reading their experience after the bodge I can now identify with that post fix feeling, I didn't want to get off the motorway but I had groceries and the school run to sort out.
All 4 where well out, inner and outer faces. One was 85grams out on the inside, none were below 25g.
High speed travel is now smooth and quiet, and I'm getting to really enjoy the upgraded sound from the new head unit, sound stage is so much better.

Cool. We’re so used to immediately jumping to the worst conclusion it’s nice when it turns out to be something simple.
I hate wheel balancing problems. So hard to find somewhere that has a decent machine and does the job diligently. I occasionally browse to check the cost of getting my own machine. Can’t really justify it though.

Re: Random update
I can relate to this. I had similar every time I hit 60mph and above.
Two egg shaped alloys and 1 with a split. Thanks to our crap roads.
Had them straightened and welded up. They did a good job but a set of alloys came up for sale at a price I couldn’t refuse.
Iirc they were off a S5.
Sorted out the vibration problem but still had a clunking noise on rough roads at the steering column/wheel.
Then the pedal box fix.
Totally transformed the car. What a pleasure to drive.
Some small fixes just make a immense difference to the driving experience.

It's weird that in my mind I think a 2003 car isn't 'that' old, and so sometimes my expectations are a bit too high in terms of NVH. But they aren't spring chickens anymore, nearly 20 years old now.

Lander. Yes mate nearly 20 yo. But you wouldn’t think so by the way they look and drive.
Assuming they have been looked after of course.
