I'm all for the Blacked out look though. Don't really think it's old skool, every new high performance car these days has a black optics pack and it looks great IMO. Chrome strips and badges I think looks incredibly dated.

It's certainly on my list of things to do, but only badges and rings I can find tend to be gloss, whereas I think I would prefer matte or Satin....
