Seems a good price to me :)
Thanks mate. The failure of my mirror has cost me nearly £200 in replacement parts that were damaged by the acid, not including replacing the mirror. I honestly think I got away with it likely too. It’s worth replacing before it fails.

I came across this thread almost 3 years after the last comments and took a total punt that mirrorjohn.com may still be supplying this auto dimming rear view mirror glass for my RS6 C5 Avant….

Could not believe my luck when I contacted him and not only did he have one in stock but he lived within walking distance of my address and hand delivered it to my door!

Such a small world!

Glass fitted and working perfectly, full peace of mind that my knackered old glass won’t be leaking corrosive fluid anywhere near my dash 🙏🏽 and my auto dim is now back fully functioning.

Thanks John, Top bloke!

Highly recommended.

I can't quickly go and check it, but I'm pretty sure my 2002 (D2) S8 has a very similar dimming mirror system, but with one very significant difference.
The external mirrors are those horrible sealed multi-layer units with fluid inside and a thick surround (and one of mine is definitely failing and going yellow) but I'm fairly sure that the internal one is a later type of coated glass that doesn't fail, certainly not in the same way.
Pretty confident that the external ones (glass not enclosure) are identical to the RS6, the internal one might also be the same shape/size or swappable.
I'll have a look and report back.
