£720 for a 20k service? (RS6)

My guess is they checked the cam-belt which is an additional cost of about £350. NOTE, that Audi again changed the RS6 service schedule around September this year so it now does NOT need the cam-belt checking at 20K miles. I got stung in the summer as Audi introduced this check item for only about 6 months during the middle of this year.Rupert wrote:...is a bit short on funds this year.

Firstly, the RS6 is NOT & has never been variable servicing. The schedule states 12 months or circa 10K miles, whichever comes around 1st. The DIS has a service indicator, accessible from the menu button near the handbrake & this dictates when a service is due. I'm averaging about 7K miles between servcing, but i do enjoy my car plentyRupert wrote:Hello Paul,
I have been doing some more ringing around - it's better than a random number generator. I doubt if any service department actually knows hows to carry out this service correctly.
Is the RS6 a variable service interval car? Mine apparently is, although I was told it was fixed when I bought it.
Do the plugs need to be changed? Some say yes, some say no.
Don't even ask about the cambelt - apparently it doesn't have one- it has a timing chain.
Confused.
No, the RS6 is definitely not eligible for the Variable Service Interval regime. However, many service departments (mine did) will try to tell you that it is!Rupert wrote:Is the RS6 a variable service interval car? Mine apparently is, although I was told it was fixed when I bought it.
My second service doas not appear to have included a plug change.Do the plugs need to be changed? Some say yes, some say no.
Confused indeed! Probably because the RS6 came out after the release of the newer V8 (used in S4, allroad etc), which does have a chain.Don't even ask about the cambelt - apparently it doesn't have one- it has a timing chain.
Confused.
