Launching the RS6????????
Launching the RS6????????
What technique is involved in this? Ok, into S mode and traction control off. What else? Been timed and all I get is low 6's to 60 and not the claimed hi 4s.

That's the one.
Not advised to constantly launch the RS6 this way, as both the brakes & gearbox are not overly strong so you'd defo be shortening their life.
You can also spin up the wheels a little even with ESP on doing this kind of launch.
You're defo doing something wrong or have a problem with your car to only get 0-60 in the 6's, even a standard launch (without trying) i can get low 4's (mines modified though). Don't switch the ESP off, as the RS6 is the only Audi (although new RS4 will be the same) where the ESP does not <beep> power, it just alters the electronic damping & drive wheels if it sensesmajor traction loss or spin. You could therefore be losing traction, htus power by having the ESP switched off.
You could also pop it into tiptronic, leave it in 1st & only change up to 2nd when the redline is almost upon you (bit obvious really).

I have heard that left on brake and right on throttle will do the trick, but will harm the engine/gearbox. Need to put to practice. You'll see my results in Performance BMW Mag Dec 2005 issue against the M5. Need a rematch using both feet.
