My lights were looking rather sorry for themselves, rather faded, one with a leaky seal, one with a broken adjuster and bulbs of unknown age.

So I took them to Trups and he worked his magic.

Lens refurb, new projectors and new bulbs all round.

The refurb of the lenses is unbelievable, they are like new!

The Morimoto Mini D2S 4.0 projectors again are unbelievable, so much light!
Its hard to know how much comes from the refurbed lens, new projectors or new bulbs but in my opinion most of it is from the new projectors.

Bulbs are Osram Night Breakers for HID and full beam.

I would highly recommend this upgrade and Trups.

One thing to note is you will need to code the headlights differently so they are at rest higher via the motors, as the Morimoto projectors naturally aim lower than the OEM units.

Apologies for the state of the car but you can see the transformation of the lenses.

Having to adjust the aim is a pita. I've still not driven my car where I could use full beam yet.

Is the actual adjustment a difficult job to do or is it a case of the adjustment is easy but get them lined up correctly is a pain?

Adjustment is via VCDS so easy if you have access to one and know what to do.

Alignment is standard, which yes can be described as a pain as you have to work out the maths, find level ground of suitable distance with a wall, get the tape measure out, make your marks etc

Are yours nearly at full adjustment at the light unit now?

I only overshot by enough to satisfy me, before coming back down, so there is enough, but I didn't find the limit, but it would be way to high.

OK - car went to Trups on Monday evening and I picked it up yesterday afternoon! Nearside light lens was badly pitted though offside wasn't so bad. Quick check on Trups wall revealed there was very little lift of any beam pattern - just a vague glow!

Transformation is amazing - at last my car has the lights it deserves, and that allow me to proceed at a proper pace in the dark (and mist/drizzle last night). :FIREdevil:

Excellent service with everything done exactly as discussed, and useful feedback confirming my car had Offside Headlight replaced in 2010 (before I got it).

All in cost a shade under half one standard Audi unit!

I think this is the second most valuable upgrade to do on the car, especially if much of your mileage happens after dark! (Top of the list is ARB's).

Happy 2018 guys
Dave

Glad you like them MrPerc. Mine are stoopid bright, I almost crashed the van getting it on the drive the other night cause the car lights were blinding me! I thought Trups had dropped off the face of the earth cause he still hasn't sent out the replacement bulbs for mine, or the rear LED kit.

Dave what upgrades did you go for? I'm going to get some stuff from Trups so would be good to know what you went for.

I've got the leaky oil cooler hose/union at the mo so as the bumper is off the car is going to get some TLC:

Repair/replace the oil cooler flexi hose (using Matt v8's guide),
Replace the fixed oil pipe that the flexi joins to as its badly corroded,
Wagners, as both coolers have a slight leak and the shrouds have also seen better days,
Upgrade the headlights with Trups kit
New Zimmerman front disks.

That should empty the piggy bank for a while.

I had new projectors and bulbs plus what I think he called the "shutter drop". Also had the lenses fully repolished etc.

If you've already got the front off you can ship the lights to him, he'll refurb and ship back. I had him do all the work.

In the interest of balance.

All I had was issues and poor build quality with Trups supplied stuff on my first B7, still plenty of issues in the B7 section with the latest generation stuff. My second B7 got new headlights instead and it made a nice difference, I'm sure the Morimoto stuff could improve things, but once bitten and all of that!!!
