They said that the note had been withdrawn!! Does that mean that anyone who had it done on their say-so can get a £400 refund?
Could well be an excellent find, so many thanks.

I'll be calling them in the morning to kick off, so any additional info you have would be greatly appreciated???

Did they mention any change to the cam-belt change? This used to be 60K miles in the original service schedule, but Audi reduced this to 40K at the same time they instigated the 20K mile check.

I've even bugged the dealer to death and he got the master tech to go through the bulletins - nothing!

Bear in mind I've spoken to two different people at cust care as well.

I used to work at a dealer so as a last resort I'll phone up the warranty guy. If anyone can find out, he will.

Hey, maybe it only applies to saloons; as a kind of extra punishment :D

I've just had a very heated phone conversation with an Audi CS Manager & it appears that Audi changed the RS6 service schedule entry regarding cam-belts back to the original being change at 40K miles (no check at 20K).

I kinda lost my rag & told them how disgusted i was to fall foul of this cranked up money making scheme they briefly introduced. If my car had only required its 2nd service 3 months later than it did, i'd have saved £400. Audi are refusing to provide me with a full refund, so i'll be emailing their new MD this afternoon (Kevin Rose has moved on).

They quoted chapter & verse about me adhering to their service requirements & babbled on about what would have happened if my cam-belt had not been checked at 20K & had failed between 20 & 40K miles. Talk about leaving a bad taste in my mouth, i'm so fcuking annoyed.

Thanks installer69 for finding this out & posting. One of the excellent uses of Forums, being the sharing of valuable information.

Excellent discussion guys! Thanks for the information - all the more relevant with my next service being the "big one". A happy ending for some - getting Audi to admit it was wrong to introduce the check would be the next step for the rest who have already paid their £400

According to Audi UK, the 20K cam-belt check is no longer a requirement. It was put into the RS6 service schedule earlier this year & removed again at the beginning of September. The biggie, cam-belt change at 40K miles is still required.
