Thirsty?

Post by Bradders » Mon Sep 26, 2005 5:57 pm

OK, so I collected the RS6 on Friday. 53plate Mugello Blue, silver leather, tv etc. Have to say I am rather impressed. Coming from the Noble, I expected the handling to be a bit "soft", but it's quite an agile beast, to say the least.

Anyway, I've managed to get 175miles to the 1st tank (range showing 25mls left). Is this about right? Not too worried either way - if it's right, I'll live with it until Feb or thereafter when the RS4 arrives (hopefully), or get it sorted if you all think my right foot is made of heavy metal!

Hi to all.

Cheers, Mark.

Congratulations on the car! I have a 03 Mugello Blue Saloon that I have had since April.

175 miles.. Wow, thats low! I normally get 250mls-350mls, but that involves motorway driving. Re. Mpgs, at steady 80mph I get high 20s to low 30s. Around London I get low teens at best. Worth bearing in mind the fuel warning is very conservative.

I took it to Germany a few weeks ago and can confirm that pedal to metal, at 170mph, gives 7mpg!

Enjoy the car, I went from a 996 to the RS6 and I love the RS..

seems like a very few miles for a tank of gas!

I am loking for a similar beast this side of xmas. how did you find yours and what extras did you get. I just tried a high mileage 52 plate mugello blue with silver nappa. loved the colours but too many miles for me as I run about 15-20k per year.

how many miles has your run and what was the damage to the wallet?

how do you get late 20's / early 30's??

mine does about 24/25 max at about 85 mph, and averages 20 as a rule.

80% of my driving miles wise is motorway.

Have to say I am really enjoying this car - it's fantastic.

2nd tank is looking a bit better on the mileage front - I guess taking less people out to show them the new wheels helps on this front! Also, I do very little long distance, so I guess I will use more fuel than most for so few miles.

Shimmy - it's got 23,300 miles on it, and ran out at 42.5K. I know it's retail price, but I have a buy-back option at 38K in February when the RS4 should be ready to collect. I only do really low mileage. If you can hang on till then, mine will be up for grabs - I expect you will want to pay less than this though.

Cheers, Mark

Figures from mine over the last year (12000 miles). Overall- 18.8 mpg; town driving to work (short journey) 11.2 mpg or thereabouts, which is probably similar to your first fuel load, or even slightly worse; Distance driving on motorways - 21.4 to 25.6mpg.
Average varies depending on weather, traffic and fuel used. Ususally the higher the octane the better it is. I actually got 31mpg on a 100 mile autobahn run using Shell V-Power, but there were speed restrictions so did not go above 70.

the spec sounds perfect and also price is in the right range. only problem is that i am not sure if i can hold on that long. maybe i will ge the high mileage rs6 for 6 months and then sell with 6 months warranty and check out yours when it is free. let me know extras if you can (either post or pm). i will let you know what happens in the next 6-8 weeks.
