Milltek exhausts

Post by AL_R » Fri Jul 15, 2005 10:14 am

Worth buying one? Don't want anything too loud as the RS6 is meant to be my sensible car and I'm considering selling but........

Anyone got a before and after soundfile on the cat back Milltek? Any opinions also welcome.

Thanks.

What's wrong with the stock item? Sounds awesome to me!

Nice one!

Did you have the dual or single pipe system on your S4?

I've got Milltek cat backs on my RS6 & they sound much better than the stock OEM pipes. Not so much louder, just a more throaty roar & of course they're less restrictive so the mid-range improves as well.

Their is a downside though. As the exits are about 30ish% larger on the Milltek, you'll end up with the exit surrounds melting when you push the car, as the pipes expand. One of my rear valance arches is quite badly melted (have to chip the ugly bits off every now & again) & he other is just starting.

I'm waiting for Sportec to produce a carbon fibre rear valance & that should solve the problem.

Thanks for the info, think I'll just keep it standard for the time being.

If anyone looking for a Milltek, here's a little used one for sale:

Sorry for the delay in posting, things have been a little hectic with work lately.
I had the single pipe each side, it seemed to finish the car off nicely as they fit into the valance better than the stock one.
Hopefully getting my milltek system fitted next week, i'll be going to the factory to have it fitted so i'll mention the problem with the rear valance.

Seems like a common problem with the milteks, I know the rs4 sufer from the paint blistering around where the tail pipes exit :!:
Too much is bad.
Plenty is better.
