Dimming mirrors

Post by pete62 » Tue Feb 09, 2016 6:19 pm

Does anyone know whether auto dimming exterior mirrors were fitted as standard to the rs6 or were they an option. If anyone definitely has them and can post a picture of the glass and surround I would be obliged
Thanks

Pretty sure it was standard on such a high spec car. Bit too dark to take pics now hopefully someone will oblige.

I wouldn't bet on it. On the S8 of the same vintage it was definitely only an option.

I got them, but it's pitch black outside at the moment. I'll see if i can make something happen in a bit.

Thanks for the replies. My mirrors ( the actual glass bit that sits inside the aluminium cowl) don't have a plastic surround around the outside of the glass.
I believe that the dimming version should have this plastic surround around the glass part?

Yes it does have the black plastic surround. These usually crack and drip paint destroying chemicals over your door if not noticed quick enough. (been there)

Off hand I think it is an option the dimming function especially on the external mirrors.

From a 2003 Jan 1st price list

Auto dipping interior mirror was standard

Auto dipping and folding door mirrors was an option @ £240 inc vat

Electric folding mirrors on there own was also an option @ £120 inc vat

Yup - agree with ahoooga. Definitely an option.
Mine didn't have dimming or folding exterior mirrors.

Ok just checked and I never noticed the black around them and you can tell by the colour mine are dimming anyway. They do fold in not that I usually do and just in case your wondering they always were colour coded mugello.
