Central locking problem

Post by ledzep » Thu Jan 28, 2016 10:01 pm

Hello folks,

Got a problem with my central locking.

It's not working remotely off the key and when I turn the key in the drivers door it only opens the drivers door. You can only get the others to open by resetting from battery or convienience module.

Was intermittent at first but is now constant. Checked the convenience module, and although it's wet around it (normal leak), it's totally intact and shows no signs of damage. Also got no problems with Windows etc

I thought it was the key at first but got it on the bench and can tell its outputting a signal. Got a new key made and that doesn't work remotely either.

So I'm thinking there's 2 things I should look at;

1 the Rf receiver for the locking - I was thinking it might be in the roof where the GPS receiver is. does anyone know where it is?
2. Does anyone know if the dead locking can be turned off through Vagcom so when I open the door with the key all doors open?

Cheers,

Silly suggestion - With the car locked and without pressing any buttons on the fob, unlock the drivers door lock using the key but *don't* open the door. Then re-lock the door using the key (so cycling the lock using just the key). Once you've cycled the lock, take the key out and then try using the fob buttons.

My locks glitched a few times and this cured it for me.

Thanks Ian, tried that but no joy.

When it's locking from the key you can hear all the latches go over but when unlocking nothing electronic moves. Just the drivers door barrel rolls over.

What if you do a double unlock motion? Does it open the other doors then?

No, doesn't trigger it. unlock isn't engaging anything other than the barrel in the door

Thanks for the idea though

I would clear out the keys in the memory with the Vagcom and learn them again to see if that helps. Pretty straightforward with the Vagcom.

I'd also change the battery in the fob, just to rule it out.

You can check the status of the door locks and other inputs to the central convenience module with the Vagcom, too.

Cheers mate.

I've done he battery but not the key memory. Is it just a log and not something needed for pairing or anything?
