6+ sold by dealer

Post by gord » Wed Mar 30, 2005 7:04 pm

A mate of mine who specialises in non-franchise upmarket german cars in the home counties tells me he just took an RS6+ in and sold it immediately for mid £60's and reckons he could have sold it several times over. I'm frankly astonished (and encouraged by the market's apparent enthusiasm). Maybe time to get out quick while the going's good to firm!

Have to say I'm surprised, after keeping an eye on the market earlier this year and seeing the second-hand 6+'s priced at 66-67k hang around not shifting at the dealers.

After my previous experiences of buying subarus, evos and 911's at the peak of the market and selling them for a substantial loss later I'd be half-tempted to cut and run if I was in such a position. But the trouble is of course, what do you replace it with?

Me too - the 'what I'd replace it with' thing is what stops me changing it (apart from the fact that I still love it) I've been eyeing up a CLS 55 in my local dealers but its 2wd and not an estate. And a 996 TurboS.

Not a TurboS - but I'm about 1 inch away from being tempted to buy a 53 plate 996tt....

Never owned a 911 and at 27, I think it maybe time (she wants kids in 2 years!!)

Obviously havent driven one then.... for the type of vehicle, it is one of the most accomplished cars I have ever driven......... but not as good as the RS4 as a drivers car even though it is quicker. I tested a 6+ back to back with the E55 and couldn't fault the merc, whereas the 6+ would have been a compromise for everyday driving for me....
Wouldn't rave about the build quality though, mine went through the teething faults of all AMG mercs and now is no problem, but it sits in the yard most of the time :biggrin3:

True, but it still makes no odds; however good you are there are times when you just want to rely on the car: we drove back from New Year in the North of Scotland with multiple hangovers and in blizzard conditions and i for one was mightily happy to be in the RS - rock steady at 100mph all the way down the M6... Normally i'd take 500bhp and RWD all day long, but that night in the wet, wind and snow, the Audi was worth every penny of its overpriced tag.

I went for something completely different. I got an a8 3.0 as a stop gap, but now have a Giallo 360 modena! I could find a like for like replacement so I just went for something I liked....it helped splitting up with the mrs first though so I didn't need permission!

Anyone see the advert in yesterday's Sunday Time for an RS6+ with 11,000 miles @ Audi West London for £65,850.

I'd say that's pretty healthy, but then aain its described as an Avant and later as a 4 door saloon. Perhaps you get 2 cars for that money!
