if you take the engine out i'd recommend you do any seals you see a bit wet, do the oil cooler pipe, preferably with the aluminium replacement one, engine mounts if you see them cracked or if any shows an error code.

If you're EGT and lambdas don't show any error codes don't do it, they can be replaced at a later date without having to remove the engine and from experience the lambdas can last quite many miles, i've had them replaced too at around 90k miles and i think it was a waste of money, they can easily do 150k miles before needing to be replaced.

Thanks for the information guys!

Right, so i've finally got the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle (for now) gone with The Turbo Unit, uprated with billet wheels, hybrid set up. £1200 all in for the refurb (SRS forum discount). Going to take 4 days for them to set up the turbos and i've booked in the work at the garage for next Wednesday. Finally all coming together, Hopefully i'll have it on road in hopefully a week and a half.

I won't be able to map the car straight away, the turbo unit have advised to unplug the n75 until i've mapped the car. What do you guys reckon, will i cause damage to the engine if i still drive it, even gently until it's been remapped?

I've got uprated intercoolers and decat down pipe too which will be fitted at the same time.

Presumably i'll need a stage 3 map from MRC because of the hybrid turbos or will they be able to do a stage 2 map on it?

Nice plan.
By unplugging the N75 you will be limited to wastegate pressure (~8psi) which will make it safe to use until you can get to MRC to have it mapped properly. They're probably worried about the boost spiking when it first spools up. Give MRC a ring too but I think it will just be a stage 2 remap you need.

I'm looking forward to seeing the dyno read-out :D

Got the motor back.. Finally!

Barely have to touch the throttle and the thing wants to take off! Funny because my s8 has 450bhp too but this car makes it feel like a golf gti!

Although i seem to be intermittently hearing a weird turbo noise, a bit whiney, unlike the usual spool up noise (race down pipes) but its very intermittent, usually after a period of driving very gently (but not always). I'd say i hear this noise about less than 5% of the time - i hope the new turbos are ok and not the cause!

I've got a fault code for cylinder 5, ignition circuit open circuit 17775. Im thinking coil packs.

I noticed a patch of my drive was wet when I moved the car, something is leaking on the right hand side of the engine (driver side) any ideas of what it could be? Oil level seemed alright.

I noticed whilst moving from drive to reverse it seems kind of clunky and i noticed after this the gear selector indicator went solid red. Turned the car off and on and it was ok. The gearbox it self seems fine its handling the power fine. I did notice when i went to pick the car up, they were topping the gearbox oil up, could they have maybe overfilled it, hence causing this? Because they've given the box a complete service, seals, etc.

I'm replacing the shocks all round, going for koni sport shocks with the standard springs. Then back to the garage.

Not driving the car at the moment.

Just changed my mafs took the car for a long drive. When i floored, it went very strong but then the engine just kind of cut out and wouldn't rev any further.

I never experienced this before when running on my old mafs, i did suspect they were faulty though and were missing the o-rings, hence the change.

Got the fault code 17963 - charge pressure maximum limit exceeded.

Any one experienced this fault code before? Could it be because of my intercoolers and decat?

You've got an overboost condition that's causing the ECU to shut down into soft limp mode. Basically the ECU has seen boost pressure it wasn't supposed to and has shut the throttle body to prevent damage to the engine. This could be caused by the decat altering the way the turbo spools, but not likely to be anything related to the intercoolers.

What map are you running? Have you cleared all the codes from the engine ECU and tried again? Clearing the fault codes will also reset any learned trims in the ECU and is "well worth a shot" ;)

I cleared the faults just after i fitted the new mafs then took it on the above test drive i scanned it again after and saw the above fault code. That makes me think my old mafs definitely weren't working properly.

I'm yet to get it mapped. I've only driven it a hand full of times to test it out. Remap is the next stop once I know everything is running ok. I guess the decat is more than likely the reason behind the error? Its only got stock refurbed turbos with an uprated thrust bearing, could this also add to the overboost?

Yep, decat certainly won't help and I'd maybe check your N75 valve too.

Get it mapped. The MIL light must be annoying ;)
