Thought I would just see if you had any images of the install please as I'm contemplating changing mine.

Did you do anything to the airbag or are you just risking it?

Thanks.

I never thought I would become 'one of that lot' and say this but you want a RS4 chap, the 6 feels like a bit of a whale now (well, more) when slamming her in to corners or sliding her around. I only drive the 6 once every few weeks to remind myself how a properly quick car actually goes, but the 4 'seems' to be getting faster the more I spank her, so every day then :).

Anyway, back on topic. The bottom of the factory B7 RS4 steering wheel feels horribly tacky, I was over the moon when NHN got that guff out of mine and slapped a new TTRS wheel in -

As for Shopp, he has the steering wheel tastes of an Octogenarian, so don't listen to him in this one rare instance.

Mr Footlong, cheers for the photo and info. Do you mind me asking where you picked the steering wheel up from please?

Also, did you look at a C6 RS6 wheel as well?

NHN installed it for me but that was an easy fit in the 4 of course compared to the 6. NHN is a lengendary VAG retrofitter, does all the retrofitting stuff for me that I am not up to (most of it then.), doesn't have to actively advertise as his work speaks for itself and keeps him very busy. He is well known on the audi-sport forums.

I don't have his mobile number to hand but you can get a response in sub-24 hours normally via email, I would recommend asking him for his mobile number as he likes to discuss things and is a top bloke - nigel AT nigel h obden DOT n e t - you can put that back together easily enough, Tell him Mr Footlong says hi :)

I honestly don't understand the issue with mfsw with button shift. I find it ideal for practicality of controlling stereo etc, and gear changes are much better than paddles, having driven both.
And as for looks, yes the flat bottom one looks pretty cool but who the feck cares what a steering wheel looks like at any time aside from a picture on a forum?

Seriously? The thing is God damn ugly. You have to see it and hold it all the time your driving!

Whatever floats your boat chap. My mums A6 has the multifunction one and it really does help to make it feel like a boat. Beast has the three spoke with paddles and it is a much better fit for the car, albeit without volume controls.

The flat bottom full leather wheel is absolutely lovely to use, has a great tactile feel and I struggle to understand how some people can say they really aren't all that important or can make a difference to the overall driving experience.

I love my TTRS one to bits, far nicer than the tackyish OE RS4 one IMO but with all that said, I personally don't think the OE 4 wheel looks right retrofitted in to a 6. The full leather one might be a bit better. My version has no paddle shift of course but there are various different versions as far as I am aware.

The newer flat bottom wheel makes the '6 feel like a smaller car, you actually feel like you're part of the steering process. If I were buying a stock '6 right now, my mod list for the prefect car would be:

- FBSW
- buckets
- stage 2 (full 'zoorst, Wagners, filters and map)
- 517
- 2010 RNS-E
- C6 brakes
- rear fog delete
- aero wipers

The car would just feel like a boat without the seats and the FBSW. I drive the differences back-to-back and every time I think Darth would be perfection with the buckets and an FBSW.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Meh, I like my SW like my women... round bottomed, not flat.

Might as well argue which colour is the best (it's Daytona, by the way).

I think most of you know my views on the steering wheel issue. FWIW I like the buttons and the paddles really irritate me with their flimsy whimsy plasticky feel.

I've driven a few RS4 and I don't remember thinking that their FBSW was something I particularly wanted in my life (like footers, I hate the tinny fake-o metal bit. I mean I don't hate footers. Oh, you know what I mean).

My M3's got a dull wheel, too, and it does the job just fine. And it's got lots of useful buttons on it for the stereo and cruise control.

My opinion which means nothing to anyone but me, but here it is, again. Flat bottom wheel doesn't feel right to me, I like to steer one handed and it doesn't work. Multi-fuckenhorriblelookingwheel is just ugly as hell, and I like the flappy paddles, not the buttons.
As always, it would be boring if we liked the same.
I do like the buckets in the monster manual, but not for normal every day use, I'd need a dump way to often as the hug pretty well.
Shopp, I too like my women with round bottoms, but I also like the flappy bits too
