Gearbox update

Post by Gal001 » Tue Feb 04, 2014 3:56 pm

As the car is going now i won't be doing the stage 2 upgrade, but that means the gearbox map too, anyone know the cheapest and easiest way to get this done? Gearbox been checked by 3 company's now and all point towards this being the problem.
Thanks Gary

Sorry, I'm a bit confused - do you want a standard map put on the gearbox TCU or an upgraded one? What have the 3 companies said and what's the problem with the box??

MRC told me it's possibly got a cheap map for the ecu, surrey rolling road had the same idea, only pushing 490 fwhp, miltek with no cats and intercooler upgrade surly wouldn't increase bhp by this much?
Gear changes can be indecisive in drive, but smooth as on the paddles, MRC recommend the stage 2, not got the funds anymore but don't want to sell it as it would put people off

Now I am really confused. Is the gearbox buggered or not or are are you being told that the gearbox is mapped incorrectly?????

If the gearbox is buggered then get that fixed, don't dick around with mapping it on the cheap at the same time. If everyone is confident it is the gearbox map, why trying to cut costs getting it redone on the cheap? No, I don't recall reading your last gearbox thread so there you have it.

A bona fide MRC or Viper map will certainly add value to the car. Probably cheapest to put the car back to standard though, but you'd likely get better value from a stage 1 map from either of those two.... Kim Collins at QST is worth a call too & i think he's near you too.

So there you have it lol
Obviously my previous posts were unclear, gearbox not buggered, have been told that it probably wasn't mapped along with ecu, I am no way an expert on these and was just after some friendly knowledge, will take advice from experts instead now, end of topic

Cool. Kim sold me my MTM program for my gearbox ecu, in prep for my remap work. You might just get away with leaving the engine ecu as is, and popping some MTM code in the TCU.

Good luck :)
