Another gearbox....

Post by stoddie » Wed Sep 25, 2013 7:45 pm

Had noticed a bit of a slip now and again.

Finally threw the torque converter code up at the weekend, reset it and it came up again the next day.

No banging or clunking but gave Martin at unit 20 a call, car loaded onto an aa flat bed the same day.

Did think for a brief moment about punting it, but gave myself a good shake and came to.

Does the ATF perish these orings in any way? The car only has 45k on the clock.....

That's an arse. Boxes have failed at lower mileage than that unfortunately. And on much younger cars. Just a crapshoot I'm afraid.

Ouch! There is no rhyme or reason to it as far as in can see! Why a box can go at low mileage yet others just seem to go on and on and on, mine is on original at 115k.
