Drag Racing
This Sunday 10/10/04 I am taking the car to the Melbourne drag strip near York. I hope that they find suitable competition as I really want to get the 1/4 mile time and speed of the modified car. I will report back late Sunday.

I had a nice day at the Melbourne drag strip, the 911s, Subarus and Evos there didnt stand a chance. I had six runs with the best being 12.62secs and a terminal speed of 116.79mph with a reaction time of 0.692secs, so if you take away the reaction time then it is sub 12secs with a speed of over 120mph. I used the gearbox in manual mode using the flippers to change gear. In our group, the only fastest cars were a Ford RS200 and the Audi Quattro rally car that I sponsor. I recommend that people should go there, £5 to get in and £15 to run your car all day.

My best 60 foot splie time was 1.988 seconds. Basically I waited until the three yellow lights went on then slipped my foot from the brake to the accelerator before the green light went on. This meant that the car + my reation time was sufficient to not jump the start. I had the car in manual and used the paddle shifts, changing up when the revs were at 5300. During the morning I experimented with different gearbox modes, the best being mkanual using the paddles. My peak torque of 755Nm is at 3395rpm and the peak power of 505BHP is at 5795rpm so bearing in mind the delay in the gearbox changing up, 5300rpm seemed a good idea. Also, I kept my foot flat to the floor as there was no gain in progressively accelerating.
There was an RS6 there with 540BHP, I believe AMD modified, I beat that and I am sure that is because I had significantly more torque.

What are the easiest interior components to remove?
I have had the anti dog flying unit out once, that was pretty heavy, not to mention those rear seats! I had my front discs replaced not too long ago, they weighed a Bl**din' ton! Any other suggestions apart from going on the Atkins! removing the mini bar, telling wifee to take a taxi! only keep £10s worth in the tank (but I want to go further than a mile!), taking scaffolding bars off the roof oh yes, those heavy Wilton shag pile carpets (front and rear), The front passenger seat, the Alcantara headlining, oh yes all those speakers and the stereo, after all, who needs a concert hall when you have a heavy metal band under the bonnet?
