Intake Q

Post by SSASSC1 » Sun Sep 23, 2012 7:31 am

Hi Guys

Decided to pull my airbox and intake off over the weekend. Pulled out the MAFs and gave them a good clean and then did a ECU reset. Can runs much smoother IMO..

Anyway, When the intake was off noticed that one of the airbox supports were missing and there was a hole in the manifold. Pic below

Car runs great but I'm not sure having a open hole in the manifold is a good idea?

Should I plug it up?

Cheers, John

Where's the hole?

Hi

If you look closely at the picture you will see 2 x red circles (crappy photo chop attempt) on the manifold. The holes are there

You mean these location holes for the airbox locating lugs?

Yeah that's it

One of the lugs are missing from underneath the intake box, hence one of the holes are exposed.

That bad?

Audi are partial to a bit of silly engineering, but even they wouldn't leave gaping holes into the inlet manifold. Those holes don't go into the inlet.
But you do need new grommets, and a new airbox by the sound of it. Looks like your car has had some rough loving.

Thx for that.

Yep, she is a bit "tardy" right now, but I aim to fix her up :)
