RS6 vs. C55 AMG?

Post by miro » Fri Apr 23, 2004 4:11 pm

I am trying to choose between purchasing an RS6 in the mid $70M or the soon to be produced (June '04) Mercedes C55 AMG. Any thoughts? Has the RS6 been reliable?

Top Gear did a comparison one or two years ago (my time flies)

the merc might be a little fast in the acceleration stakes (somewhere around 470/480 horsies), but ultimatly all that power thru the rear wheels was too much - in the end the recomened the rs6, as with the quattro you can actually go around corners at serious speed, and i also wouldnt like to think about how that merc would behave in the wet.........

well, its your money at the end of the day, but id choose the Audi

That test was between an RS6 and an E55AMG
You are not comparing like with like as the "C" class is RS4 sized not RS6 so should be more nimble but will not take half the luggage of the RS anyway if you are on our site you have already made your mind up.

Also we complain about Audi hospitality and customer care BUT through bitter experience you DON'T want to go to a Mercedes dealer

Actually, my presence on the site does not indicate that I have already chose. The RS4 is my dream car. It's at least 2 years away. What do you think comes closest now - an RS6 or a C55 AMG?

I would have a quattro over most others, as it is safer and handles well.

I assume this is for use in the US? What image does the RS6 portray over there?
