Re: Sad Sad Sad very Sad day
I have been watching this thread from afar and have felt due to the amount of misinformation i had to pipe up..
Range rover..wouldnt touch one with a bargepole..No better then a cayenne on the rough stuff..A land rover on the other hand is a different matter.
Both the cayenne and range rover have electronic gimmickery which the land rover doesnt have and which opens up a box owned by pandora for things to malfunction. If you were to take a vote between which car you`d think was more reliable between a porsche cayenne and a range rover sport, you`d IMVHO be bordering on certifiable to choose the latter.
The looks however are a different matter and whilst clarkson aptly described the cayenne when he said "Ive seen more attractive camels with gingivitis", youve got to admit that the techart and gemballa incarnations do have a certain presence.
P.s I have owned both a turbo s and 4.2 sc RRS.
Oh I forgot to include this link...

The looks are divisive certainly.. either way got to say that whilst I have perhaps bought an older vehicle in the rs6 it is in my very humble opinion chasms better then anything land rover have offered or are ever likely to offer me.

If porsche could improve the looks, a 4wd addition from their stable would easily have a place in my garage. The quality is unquestionable and as regards its ability on the rough stuff, whilst perhaps it cant beat a defender, it matches ( and easily) anything the RRS offers. The full fat rangie however, has got greater clearance and will have better departure and entry angles but it looks like a box.

That cayenne looks awful
All the kits do
The Ranger Rover is horrid on the road the kids felt sick in the back. like a Cupboard on a water bed and handled like a pram on Ice
The Cayenne ticked all the boxes when I was going through the horriable stage of selling the RS6.
having worked Porsche and the offer of cheap servicing it was a winner.
May not be the best looking, but it handles well and goes like stink.
Needed to be big enough to fit the family, Dog crate, gear, bikes and box on the roof and 4x4 plus be quick
Anyway still love
and changing the mrs car soon fingers crossed to S3 if she likes it enough
