Sad Sad Sad very Sad day

Post by marmite » Mon Feb 06, 2012 6:48 pm

The new owner collected my beloved RS6 Saloon from me today.
A good friend for the last 6 years.

Felt horriable watching it driving down the road.

Family expanded to getting a Puppy so needed the boot, plus the kids getting bigger so needed the boot.
Was going for the V10 but they where just abit to far out of my reach.
Was going to go the route of C5 avant but after having some form of A6 for about 9 years I thought I would have a different dash layout in front of me for a while.

Cayenne came up cheap, very quick and handles very well for a big car.
Very different car no noise!

I say well played that man. Served his time with the Audi and fancied a change. There are far worse places to be than behind the wheel of a Cayenne Turbo. Colour?
Current:

23' C8 RS6 Vorsprung - 23' RS E-Tron GT Carbon Vorsprung

Gone:

"Brutus"- C5 RS6 Avant - MRC stage 2 - Milltek non-res + 100 cell cats - Wagner ICs - PSS9 - H&R ARBs - OZ Superturismo LM - C6 Custom brakes - HD RNS-E - Various other bits - 555PS/832Nm
"Taz"- C7 RS6 - MRC stage 2 745PS/1095Nm
12' Cayenne Turbo, B7 RS4, S3, Cupra R, XJR, EVO VII, STI8,5,2&WRX, 106 GTI&XSI, other crap.

You'll get no abuse from me - great piece of kit.

I seriously looked at getting a Cayenne S back when I bought my C5 - only Mrs. Drybeer's attitude to its sheer bulk for parking made me decide against it.

I seem to remember the interior (dash in particular) quality and layout was not a patch on an Audis... But they're great machines. And the Turbo has air suspension - so at least you'll have no problems there!!

Mine is the fast lift version so better looking then orginal.
I like it my taste can't be that bad for loving the beast for some many years.

Suspesion is great and has got PDCC fitted which alows it to corner very flat with very little roll, 21inch rims and all the toys.

Mrs misses the RS alot

I for one cant abide the hateful things. Porsche should stay with what they were good at and stop bringing out these awfull looking add ons like that saloon piece of sh*te. At least you have retained an element of speed in a Cayenne but I suggest you will tire of it quickly. Im not sure there is any of these fake 4x4 things that are any good iMO nowadays they mostly look hideous and serve no purpose but I except the tech inside is superb but put them in mud..... . For me if your going to get a big 4x4 then go for a RR there is no comparison! I had a mate over last night who works for BMW and he was desperatly trying to sell me a X6 !! I nearly hit him over the head with a bottle of wine! What a pointless piece off crap that is! The only beamer chelsea tractor I would even partially consider is an X5 ..and then Id need to be pissed and move to London.

Sorry MEV but I could not DISAGREE with you more.

If you've driven a Range Rover you'll know what a spongy, slovenly horrible mess they are. Also their actual engineering quality is S***E.

The Cayenne is an amazing piece of kit, and the sales of it has ENABLED Porsche to continue making Sports cars. Porsche would not have survived the 90's being a one-trick-pony, so it's the SAVIOUR of Porsche!

I have a Cayenne and an RS6 saloon but still prefer the Audi. If I were to buy again, I would probably get a second RS6 but in avant form. The Cayenne is a nice heafty lump of car and made it easy to put the boy in and out of but there is not really enough space inside it.
Daytona Grey (C5) RS6 saloon, but just a little better...
